May 2011 Archives
You may or may not have noticed, but summer is almost here. Now, enjoying your summer is a big responsibility, with a lot of things to consider- but there's no need to panic. Lucky for you we've created the perfect summer check list!
First of all, make sure that you're in a location that actually gets a summer during the June-August months. Australia, Peru, New Zealand- you're out. Everyone else read on.
You're going to have to keep cool while you're in that heat. And whether you're out playing kickball, lying beside a pool, or hosting a barbecue you've got to consider your hydration. So make sure you've got your supplies in order.
-Watermelon Ramune (you're probably going to want somewhere between 5-10 of these. Because if you have one, then other people are going to want some, and nothing will make new friends like a guy who likes to share)
-Pineapple Ramune (Make sure to have a couple pineapples, just for variety's sake. You may also want to consider a strawberry, and a banana, and maybe even a Hello Kitty one for that cute girl in the bikini)
-Street Fighter Energy Drink (everyone knows that summer is the time for action movies. So get hyped up for explosions, car chases, and some wicked cool bad guys with an energy drink devoted to action junkies)
(If you're over 21) Summer is a time for parties, martini glasses, and late nights. So you'll need to find the perfect drinks for all of your festivities. We recommend you try these:
-Green My Tini - A clever take on the old martini. Easy to make, and even easier to drink
-Dee Colada - Designed for people who want the great taste of a Pina Colada, but can't stand the embarrassment for when they order one at a bar
-Yellow Snow - We just wanted to give you a good conversation starter. When people ask what you've got in your hand, say it loud and say it proud, "I'm drinking Yellow Snow"
(Everyone knows that the beating heart of summer is the grill. But people get tired of the typical line-up of hot dogs and ham burgers. So give these Asian recipes a try, because if you want to expand your barbequing skills, then you've got to go back to one of the original sources. The Chinese have been barbequing and experimenting with different seasonings, sauces, and herbs for thousands of years. Or you can just check out all of our recipes.
-Chinese Barbecue Ribs - Tender pork spare ribs marinated in a mix of soy sauce, garlic, hoisin sauce, and sweet golden honey
-Cantonese Barbecue Pork - Delicious, sweet and savory meat, cooked to perfection
And of course you're going to need the barbecue sauces. Again, people get tired of the same old stuff, so try something unique, something weird, something crazy.
-Wasabi Mayonaise - Add a kick to your sandwiches, marinades, and sauces. This stuff may sound weird, and it is, but it tastes great
-Korean BBQ Mix - A super easy way to add flavor and a little spice to your meat
-LKK Spare Rib Sauce 8.5 Oz - Let the experts at Lee Kum Kee help you perfect the flavor on your barbecues
