Kasugai Products
Kasugai is a prominent Japanese snack company that produces a wide variety of candy and treats. They are a large exporter to Asia, the United States and Europe. The company has garnished the reputation for having the best tasting fruit gummy snacks coming out of Japan today.
Kasugai first opened and began selling nuts, fruits, and peas in 1928, the year before the great crash. It struggled through the depression, and by the late 1940’s their sales were climbing again. By the 1950’s their stock was flying off the shelf. Over the course of the following decades they widened their repertoire to include hard candy, ramune, soda candy, throat lozenges, and by 1990 they began production of their very famous gummy candy. Their gummy candy, simply called “Gummy,” is always fruit flavored, with flavors such as grape, pineapple, strawberry, apple, and litchi. They come in simple, colorful packaging decorated with the fruit they are flavored with. The gummy candies quickly became the company’s most popular product and are part of their success.
