Thai vs. Japanese Pocky!
This entry was posted on September 2, 2015.
Hello to all of the wonderful people from all corners of the world! My name is Komu-chan and I’m here today to tell you the difference between the Pocky that are made in Thailand versus Pocky that is made in Japan. Yes, there is a difference! (๑°o°๑)
Pocky manufacturers in Japan and Thailand are both completely legitimate (don’t worry!), but they DO have their own unique styles and flavors. Sometimes one will come across a unique flavor that is only produced in Thailand, and another that is only produced in Japan! A good example is the Banana Chocolate Pocky, which is unique to Thailand’s manufacturer. Another example is Heart-Shaped Strawberry Pocky which is made only in Japan.
But that isn’t all! Pocky made in Thailand generally have a lower price point than Pocky made in Japan. That’s why once in a while, our beloved foodies will notice a price difference between two Pockys of the same flavor (aka chocolate). Pocky-Eating-Experts out there on the World Wide Web have done comparisons between the two and note that the packaging can be different, as well as sweetness levels and texture. The Japanese version is said to be sweeter and have smoother cream, while the Thai counterpart is a bit milder in sweetness and less rich.
